Steamed Lapu-lapu in Soy Sauce

Steaming is a cooking process in which the vapors produced from heating water is used to cook dishes. It can get more science-y here but this blog is not Discovery channel. What’s so good about steaming anyway? Well, for one it’s healthy. Majority of the population has grown into very health conscious creatures. Going to the gym everyday, watching what they eat, not having fun, hating life, etc. but there’s a great way to be healthy and still have a lively meal!

Steamed lapu-lapu in soy sauce is a great way to get the best of both worlds. It’s a Chinese recipe using the fish Lapu-Lapu which is delightful when steamed. The sauce used will have the combination of sweet and salty which greatly compliments each other. Here’s how you can live the healthy life without worrying too much about fats, which is not always bad, or some other things.

Ingredients:
1kg Lapu-Lapu
50g Leeks
10g Coriander
6 tbsp. Light soy sauce
5 tbsp. Water
6 tbsp. Sugar
3 tsp. sesame oil
1 tsp ground white pepper
20ml peanut oil

Procedure:
1.) Fabricate and clean your fish.
2.) Steam your fish for about 15-20 minutes depending on the size. You’ll know when it’s done if the skin becomes very sticky or when the flesh easily flakes.
3.) Combine the light soy sauce, water, sugar, sesame oil, and white pepper. Simmer gently.
4.) Take out the fish when cooked.
5.) Heat the peanut oil up to its smoking point and pour it over the steamed fish followed by the sauce mixture.
6.) Garnish with your sliced leeks and coriander.

What an easy dish to prepare, amirite? Within minutes, you can already enjoy this very refreshing dish!!
